4yr olds to 10yr olds

The main thing you get is peace of mind! You can relax. I look like a real Wizard, however the truth is soon out. The children go through all their emotions - they're helpful, horrid, happy - and they heckle!

They're certainly involved. Wait til I ask what a cross face looks like - then I try to pick out the parents that match! Whatever the age they get individual attention - if they wish. I'm especially good with the shy ones. I try magic - not very successfully. Brilliant at balloon animals, though - and each animal does something. The birthday child gets whatever they want (as they should!). Thats 45 minutes of Wizardy. I doubt if there are jobs out there as fun as mine!

If I'm staying for a second show - we have a break for food and then into the Fun & Games. We do three musical games. My version of Musical Statues & Dancing Competition (which I win both of). Superman - looking for the best one (which I win again. I have done it so many times!). So I win all the prizes (which are more balloon animals) - and just before they get REALLY angry we play the last game of Hokey Cokey. Then I share out all the balloons.

If there's time we have Balloon Fireworks and finish off with the bubble machine to the music of the Can Can.

They're great! They're up for fun - and my secret is that I don't try to prove I'm cleverer than them. My magic is pretty useless - but, thankfully, they're really good. And they seem to like me - possibly because I obviously need help! Mostly we chat about Wizards and Mummies - who of course rule the world. I do make a pigs ear of making a balloon animal, but they love to tell me how to do it.

Also, and this stays with them (believe me, I meet them in the shops) - I find it impossible to fold my arms. Even when they come up and try to fold them for me. So you can imagine - 45 minutes flies by with lots of fun, balloon animals and some magic.

Three things to note, from my experience (lots!)

• Have me there to begin the party. They're like a can of worms - impossible to put the lid back on once they've been racing round the room for half an hour. Their little hearts racing at the speed of a shrews! I'll just spend half my time getting them sit down, let alone sit still!
• Don't hand out balloons and trumpets before I'm on. I just can't get on with the show if they're forever firing and squeaking balloons. And tooting the trumpet every time I speak. It is fun - but you're paying me to do a show. It's up to you!!
• You've spent time and money on the food and sitting, eating and talking is part of the party, surely. So don't put the cakes and biscuits out until they've eaten the savouries - they'll just go for the chocolate otherwise.

How much do you cost?

I am based in Hereford. My fees start from £145 for a 45 minute show in Hereford, more as I go further afield towards Gloucester, Evesham, Llandod, the Forest, Hay, Ludlow.
A second show is an extra £95.
